by A. A. Milne
adapted from Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame
Because November's harvest-themed Pizza Reading (The Dining Room) was pushed into December, I'm scheduling one for this Wednesday, Dec. 29th at 6pm Eastern. The play: Kenneth Grahame's TOAD OF TOAD HALL as adapted by A. A. Milne (of Winnie-the-Pooh fame).
In keeping with the British tradition of seeing a panto play around Christmastime, we'll be reading this endearing tale about a little excitable Toad filled with childlike wonder at the world around him. We'll follow him and his friends (Badger, Rat, and Mole) on an adventure of motorcars, prison escapes, and blunderbuss battles to win back his beloved Toad Hall. It's a touching adaptation that "expresses perfectly the mood of the Grahame book...a combination of poetry, fantasy and exquisite comedy." Details:
TOAD OF TOAD HALL Wednesday, Dec. 29 6pm Eastern
Usual Pizza Reading rules: all participants must read a small part. Please RSVP by noon on Tuesday, Dec. 27. I will send the script, roles, and Zoom info that evening. And if you'd prefer a hardcopy, this play can often be found in your local library! Hope you can join me in Toad Hall for pizza and a play!
